Green Health Week linear green.png

18th-24th May 2026

Green Health week celebrates the mental, physical and social benefits of connecting with nature.

Spending time outside even in small doses can help reduce stress, boost mood and lower blood pressure.

At Get Outdoors Lanarkshire we believe in the health-giving benefits of nature connection and outdoor activity for both people and planet.  We want to ensure that everyone in Lanarkshire knows the benefits of green health and can access opportunities to connect to and be active in nature.  We want to  find a way for anyone to connect to nature regardless of age, background or ability.

Even if you can’t get outside, connect with nature by watching a tree through your window, checking for the changes throughout the seasons or open your window and listen to the birdsong.

You can even bring the outdoors in, tending to houseplants, introducing natural scents or by having pictures of nature on the walls.  Read our blog to find out how one health centre in Lanarkshire went above and beyond to bring nature into their waiting room or watch their video here.
